ABOUT US
Hospital Chaplaincy is essential in providing spiritual and pastoral care to individuals facing illness and
suffering. The unique challenges and emotional distress experienced by patients in hospital
settings highlight the need for compassionate and supportive pastoral and spiritual care.
It is important to emphasize that this form of ministry extends beyond ordained clergy, such as priests, deacons,
and religious men and women, as it welcomes the involvement of Catholic devotees who possess a deep sense of empathy
and a genuine desire to provide comfort and companionship to their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Through hospital ministry, individuals can offer prayers, emotional support, and active presence to those navigating the difficulties of illness and suffering.
In South San Mateo County of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, we established a robust pastoral ministry to provide unwavering support for our sick community members in the hospital. Our dedicated volunteers, including Pastoral Care Ministers/ Eucharistic Ministers and Prayer Warriors, work together seamlessly. Their unwavering dedication inspires all.
Their commitment to providing Holy Communion and offering fervent prayers is genuinely inspiring.
Furthermore, our Prayer Warriors, a group of dedicated individuals committed to the spiritual well-being
of our community, commit to praying for the healing of individual patients for nine consecutive days.
They incorporate specific saints' intercessions related to the patient's health challenges,
believing in the power of collective prayer and the intercession of saints in healing.
In addition, we gather together in a Healing Mass every third Friday of the month at 6 pm, serving as the cornerstone
of our prayers and sacraments. Our Catholic community actively participates in this healing mass, experiencing the profound love,
compassion, mercy, and healing of Jesus Christ through the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit.
This collective prayer, a testament to our unity and strength, is an indispensable
and a powerful tool in our ministry, uniting us all in our shared mission.
I sincerely hope this website will serve as a comforting channel for our sick brothers and sisters to request prayers
and petitions for the healing of our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember, God is faithful to his promise to us, as He said,
"Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them an abundance of prosperity and security." (Jeremiah 33:6)

St. Peregrine Laziosi Statue Installation(Phase 1)

I am reaching out with a project close to my heart—the Shrine of St. Peregrine Laziosi and Renewal Center, dedicated to the patron saint of those facing cancer and serious illnesses.
St. Peregrine’s faith and healing inspire many. The St. Peregrine statue at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Redwood City, California, and, ultimately, the Shrine and Renewal Center, will offer a symbol of hope and unity in faith.
To bring this vision to life, we humbly ask for your support through a financial contribution or by spreading the word to those who may wish to help. St Peregrine Laziosi’s statue is finally installed in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Now, we have a place of solace and refuge for all those needing St. Peregrine Laziosi’s intercession. We will continue to pray for the ultimate sacred space, St. Peregrine Laziosi Shrine and Renewal Center, to come into fruition.

St. Peregrine Laziosi Spiritual Renewal Center(Phase 2)
Renewal Center Mission
St. Peregrine Laziosi Shrine and Renewal Center will open a door to our hospice cancer patients to find solace and refuge amidst their struggle with cancer. This is the place where they can renew and strengthen their faith in God and ask for emotional and spiritual healing. We will accompany them on their spiritual journey to renew and solidify their bond with God through prayer and sacraments. We will follow an intensive nine-day spiritual renewal program tailored for each hospice patient and family.
The St. Peregrine Laziosi Chapel
St. Peregrine Chapel is the focal point of the Renewal Center. This chapel is visible from all 12 rooms, so our patient staying in those rooms will be able to see the blessed Sacrament and spend time in adoration in the comfort of their rooms. Moreover, they can attend mass in their room, as they have a clear view of the chapel.

The St. Peregrine Renewal Center will have a grand entrance that leads to the St. Peregrine Chapel, the center's focal point. There will be 12 rooms for cancer hospice patients, which are dedicated to each of the 12 apostles. All rooms will have a clear view of the chapel. Moreover, a water element that surrounds the chapel adds serenity to the place.

Born in 1887 as Francesco Forgione, Padre Pio was canonized in 2002 by Pope John Paul II and was most famous for the gift of the stigmata which he received in 1918 while praying before a crucifix. See the Shrine of Padre Pio including the church of Santa Maria della
